In this episode exploring MI for people with Opioid Use and Stimulant Use Disorders, Glenn and Sebastian warmly welcomed Roy Stein, MD to the podcast. Roy received his MD degree from Duke Medical School in Durham, NC, followed by medical internship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH andMI with Opioids & Stimulants psychiatry residency at Duke. He is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the UNC School of Medicine, working in the addiction treatment clinic and Addiction Medicine fellowship program. Before moving to UNC, Roy directed the Substance Use Disorders treatment program at the Durham VA Health Care System.  He is Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke. He is board-certified in general and addiction psychiatry, and is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. He served for almost 10 years as a consultant and trainer in the VA’S national MI/MET training initiative. He enjoys playing guitar, reading novels, gardening, and being a grandfather.
